Industrial gases company Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC) has announced that it will begin commercialisation of its new large-scale liquid nitrogen programme freezer, the Cryo Cell Master CM-300.

Capable of freezing large volumes of cells to be used in cellular medicine manufacturing, liquid nitrogen type programme freezers typically have a higher freezing performance and broader temperature control ranges than their electrical equivalents.

By developing the Cryo Cell Master CM-300, TNSC aims to meet the demand for larger volumes of cell batch prefreezing for a range of requirements.

Three times the size of TNSC’s existing freezers, the Cryo Cell can batch process a maximum of 1,575 cryopreservation vials (10 cc) and is equipped with an original freezing programme to recreate stable freezing conditions.

According to the company, it has optimised the layout of the stirring fan and liquefied nitro nozzle, resulting in the distribution of chamber temperature at the time of programmed freezing being equal to existing freezers.

By occupying an installation area approximately 40% smaller than the previous model (CM-100), TNSC claims that the latest tech helps save space and reduce capital investment.

An internal heater enables the CM-300 to quickly recover its internal temperatures upon completion of freezing operations.

Anticipating demand from the medical technology sector, TNSC will begin selling the new freezer from October.

Germany’s government will take delivery of a fifth floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) in a bid to strengthen its energy security and reduce reliance upon Russian natural gas.

Germany-based cement manufacturer HeidelbergCement has announced its largest carbon capture project to date. Situated in Mitchell, Indiana at its US subsidiary Lehigh Hanson, the project could reduce approximately two million tonnes of CO2 per year.

Atlas Copco is further expanding its business, having today (2nd Sep) completed the acquisition of Oxymat.
